Apley Farm Shop will host a Pony Club show jumping event this Sunday, 26 June, with 264 competitors from 15 pony clubs in Area 7 of the Pony Club. The winners go to the Pony Club Championships held 19-22 August at Cholmondeley Castle in Cheshire.
Lady Hamilton explained "This year it’s the turn of the Wheatland Pony Club, one of Shropshire’s pony clubs, to host this area-level competition. As our children are members & we have a super events field at Apley Farm Shop, it has been our pleasure to offer this location for the day. The Pony Club works for 110,000 young people worldwide, keeping them active & occupied. Most importantly its members learn sportsmanship & responsibility for their ponies throughout the year."
Mrs Emily Brick District Commissioner for the Wheatland Pony Club said "We’re looking forward to hosting the other 14 clubs in Area 7. One of our teams qualified last year for the Pony Club championships, so we’re hoping to do the same or better again this year.".
General Manager Tina Buckland added "It’ll be yet another great day out for all the family, especially for anyone who enjoys the equestrian world. It will also give the chance for many of our customers to see some excellent young show jumpers close up. "
Spectators are very welcome but only riders & ponies who have been pre-selected for their Area-7 Pony Club teams are allowed to compete.
Apley Farm Shop is open 7 days a week, located between Bridgnorth & Telford on the A442. The competition will begin 8am & finish by 6pm. The shop is open 9.30am to 5.0pm on Saturdays. This is a free event, but there may be charges for some activities.
