Oakengates Theatre is Telford's premier entertainment centre

A wide variety of entertainment will be on offer at Telford’s premier theatre over the next couple of months.

The theatre caters for all tastes across the showbiz spectrum and will be kicking things off with the annual panto on Wednesday (Dec 7).

Yes, rehearsals are nearly over and the star-studded cast are ready to take to the stage for Sleeping Beauty. So clear your throats and make sure you are in good voice with the He’s Behind You and Oh! No, He Isn’t shouts from the stalls as one of the most popular shows of the year gets underway.

Comedy legend Bernie Clifton will lead the cast and will be joined by Wink Taylor, Xenna Kristian, Matt Brinkler and Theo the Mouse & Wendy as the cast aim to bring some festive cheer to the people of Shropshire.

Looking ahead to next year there is some very different entertainment planned to tempt you. Stand-up comedian Omid Djalili will be in town on January 18 and this will be followed by an evening with Barry Fry and Ron Atkinson on January 20.

Two of the more flamboyant and colourful characters of football management, Fry and Atkinson will be bringing their own unique brand of humour and vast experience of the dugout to the stage.

Psychic medium Tony Stockwell will be entertaining the crowds on January 24 and the theatre will be hosting a school edition of Les Miserables between January 28 and 31.

On February 2 Oakengates Theatre will then be staging blockbuster That’ll Be The Day.
