Fly high at RAF Museum Cosford

RAF Museum Cosford is right on our doorsteps here in Shropshire and offers a fun day out for all of the family.

It’s definitely worth including on your list of must-see attractions if you’re looking for places to visit this winter.

Situated right next to an active airfield, you can get right up close to over 70 aircraft of international importance. It’s the only place in the Midlands you can do this - and in fact the only other RAF Museum in the country is situated in London.

There are three Wartime Hangars and the National Cold War Exhibition to explore which house all of the aircraft, including the world’s oldest Spitfire and a Lincoln Bomber.

In the Test Flight area, there are the TSR2 and Bristol Type 188 constructed from stainless steel while the Transport Collection includes the Comet 1A and Gnat T1 previously used by the Red Arrows.

There are also over 60 engines and missiles - argued by some as one of the finest collections in the entire world.

One thing’s for sure, the whole family will be kept entertained by the flight simulator, 4D experience and the Fun ‘n’ Flight interactive gallery.

The museum is open from 10am to 4pm (last admission 3pm) until February when the hours are extended to 5pm through the summer. It’s free to enter although a car park charge is payable.

Visit www.rafmuseum.org.uk/ for more information about enjoying this great attraction this winter. Keep an eye out here for upcoming events including the popular annual events hosted at Cosford.
